Abandoned fort turned into luxury hotel

The Spitfire Fort is one of three sea fort structures designed to defend Britain from Napolean’s navy in the 18th century.  They were abandoned until just recently and the Spitfire has been converted into a luxury hotel complete with eight suites.  There’s also plans to expand a larger hotel into the other “No Man’s Land Fort”.

The site is a haven for history buffs and each of the suites at the fort was originally the gun bastion.  the only way to reach the fort is by boat.  There’s several areas to lounge on deck and the hotel includes an outdoor, heated pool as well as a bar and fire pit.  There’s spectacular views of the Isle of Wight as well.
